I have always wanted to be of part of making the world a better place. Discovering what that means has been a life long journey through many relationships, careers, and life experiences . I have been a child care provider, a housekeeper, a camp counselor, a health educator, a youth group facilitator, a case manager, an administrator, an energy and body worker, a mental health crisis worker, an activist, an RN, and a holistic wellness advocate. What I have learned by working with people using a variety of modalities is that everyone needs support to navigate life’s challenges. I believe that being present with people as they become ready and willing to transform the circumstances of their life – whether those circumstances are related to health, emotion, career, finances, relationship status, or something else has its own powerful magic. My role as a wellness advocate is to create a physical, psychic and energetic space where my clients feel supported on multiple levels so that transformation can happen.
From my back ground in counseling and case management I bring an understanding of the importance of non-judgmental listening and strict confidentiality. From my many years of working with young people I understand that we need affirmation of who we are in this moment. I do not believe anyone needs to be fixed, only supported to accept fully who we are so we can continue to grow and change. From my work as a mental health crisis worker I know the importance of supporting people to find their own answers while offering information and resources to support a change in habits. As a nurse, I learned the importance of positive perspective, hope, and information.
I am certified in Thai- Shiatsu Body Work, zen shiatsu, Matrix Energetics, and Reiki. I supplement this work with basic knowledge of many other modalities including yoga, herbs, health kinesiology, homeopathy and reflexology. I am also a long time peer counselor with years of experience working with at risk youth. I am a Registered Nurse, licensed in the state of NY, and am in the process of pursuing certification in holistic nursing and a master’s degree so I can become a nurse practitioner.
Because I believe learning is a part of growing I continue to deepen my knowledge and practice of these body work techniques. By incorporating my many different skills, I hope to offer support to face a challenge and turn it into an opportunity for improved well-being.
